Birth name
Claude Henri Jean Chabrol is the full name in LOC and French cinema references (Chabrol, Claude, 1930–2010) (LOC). He was billed as Claude Chabrol throughout his career.
New Wave and thrillers
A critic at Cahiers du Cinéma before directing, Chabrol made Le Beau Serge (1958), often cited among the first French New Wave features, then built a long career in bourgeois thrillers and crime dramas—Les Biches, La Femme infidèle, Le Boucher, later La Cérémonie, and many more. He was prolific into the 2000s (LOC; standard New Wave histories).
He died in September 2010. Alongside Truffaut, Godard, Rohmer, and Rivette, he is grouped with the core Cahiers generation that moved from criticism to directing.

Why the "real name" question matters
Search interest in a celebrity's "real name" usually means one of three things: a shortened everyday form (Tom for Thomas, Dave for David), a middle name used as a stage handle (Drake-style), or a true legal/professional change after immigration or branding. This sprint page states which case applies, cites library or encyclopedia authorities where possible, and avoids gossip. Career sections stay high-level and sourced so Domain Bot can add internal/external links without rewriting the biography. Living subjects are limited to public facts; memorials avoid graphic detail.
