Toshl's Real Name: Toshimitsu Deyama
history
Toshl (Toshl) 本名: Toshimitsu Deyama (出山利三)
Answer: Toshl's real name is Toshimitsu Deyama (出山利三). He is the lead vocalist of the rock band X Japan.
Toshimitsu Deyama was born on October 10, 1965, in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture. He grew up with drummer and pianist Yoshiki, and the two formed the band that became X (later X Japan) while still in school.
He performed for years as "Toshi." On February 9, 2010, he changed the styling from "TOSHI" to "Toshl," with a lowercase "l" in place of the final "I." X Japan became one of the founders of the visual-kei movement and one of Japan's best-selling rock bands, with songs such as "Kurenai" and "Endless Rain."
Toshl left X Japan in 1997, which led to the band's breakup. The band reunited in 2007. He has since released solo albums, including a series of cover albums of Japanese pop songs.
His real name is widely documented in Japanese reference sources. (Bandmates Yoshiki and Hide have their own RealNameOf profiles.)
