history
Fujiko F. Fujio (藤子・F・不二雄) 本名: Hiroshi Fujimoto (藤本弘)
Answer: Fujiko F. Fujio's real name is Hiroshi Fujimoto (藤本弘). He created Doraemon, first as half of the duo Fujiko Fujio.
Hiroshi Fujimoto was born on December 1, 1933, in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. In school he met Motoo Abiko, and the two began making manga together under a shared pen name, eventually settling on 藤子不二雄 (Fujiko Fujio). The "Fuji" sound comes from Fujimoto's surname.
Together they produced hits such as Obake no Q-Tarō. In 1987 the duo split the name so each could work separately; Fujimoto became 藤子・F・不二雄, with the "F" from Fujimoto.
His most famous creation is Doraemon (started 1969), the robot cat from the future, which became one of Asia's best-loved characters. He also created Perman and Kiteretsu Daihyakka. He died on September 23, 1996. The Fujiko F. Fujio Museum in Kawasaki opened in 2011.
