Fujiko Fujio Ⓐ (藤子不二雄Ⓐ) 本名: Motoo Abiko (安孫子素雄)
Answer: Fujiko Fujio Ⓐ's real name is Motoo Abiko (安孫子素雄). The "Ⓐ" stands for Abiko, and he created Ninja Hattori-kun and The Laughing Salesman.
Motoo Abiko was born on March 10, 1934, in Himi, Toyama Prefecture. He was the other half of the Fujiko Fujio duo with Hiroshi Fujimoto, his school friend. When the two split their shared pen name in 1987, Abiko became 藤子不二雄Ⓐ, the circled A standing for Abiko.
His style leaned darker and more adult than his partner's. His works include Ninja Hattori-kun, whose hero is loosely modeled on the ninja-legend image of Hattori Hanzō; Kaibutsu-kun; and the dark comedy The Laughing Salesman (Warau Sērusuman). His autobiographical manga Manga Michi tells the story of the duo's early years.
He died on April 6, 2022, and his death was reported by NHK and other major outlets.
