VTubers (Public Info Only) (VTuber · 本名)
VTubers (バーチャルYouTuber) stream as animated avatars. The character name is the "stage name," and the person behind it is called the 中の人 (naka no hito, "person inside").
Our rule for this page is strict. Most VTubers, especially those at agencies like hololive and Nijisanji, keep their identities private, and agencies forbid revealing them. Leaks, voice-matching and "doxxing" are harmful and sometimes illegal. We list a person only when they themselves have publicly and clearly revealed who they are. We do not list leaked, guessed or rumored identities, and we do not link to sites that do.
The naming custom. A VTuber name is a character name, often with a lore backstory (a demon, an idol from space, a fox shrine maiden). When a VTuber "graduates," the character usually retires, and the person may return under a new name. Some VTubers later appear under their own face, sometimes using another stage name rather than a legal name.
