Real name and stage name

Rosé is a stage name built from her English given name, Roseanne. Her full name is Roseanne Park, and Korean media also report her Korean name, Park Chae-young (박채영). On stage she goes by the single name Rosé (로제), a short, French-styled form of Roseanne.

She was born in New Zealand on February 11, 1997, and grew up in Australia. After a successful audition in 2012 she moved to South Korea and signed with YG Entertainment, where she trained for several years.

Rosé became famous as a member of Blackpink, which debuted in August 2016 and became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. In March 2021 she released her debut single album, R. It sold 448,089 copies in its first week, the highest figure for a Korean female soloist at the time. Its lead single, "On the Ground," topped the Billboard Global 200, making her the first artist to top that chart both as a soloist and as part of a group. It was also the first song by a Korean female soloist to enter the UK Singles Chart.

In 2024 she signed with The Black Label and Atlantic Records. She released "APT." with Bruno Mars as the lead single from her debut studio album, Rosie (2024). The song became a worldwide hit and one of the defining K-pop crossover records of its era.

Rosé is also known for her distinctive voice and guitar playing, which set her solo work apart from her group's sound. For anyone checking her real name, the answer is Roseanne Park, with Rosé simply a shortened stage version of it.
