Suga's real name is Min Yoon-gi (Korean: 민윤기). Born March 9, 1993, he is a rapper, songwriter and producer in BTS who also records as Agust D.

Real name and stage name

Suga is one of two stage names used by Min Yoon-gi (민윤기). In BTS he is Suga (슈가), and for his solo mixtapes and albums he goes by Agust D. The second name reads as "D-Town" plus "Suga" spelled backward, a nod to his hometown of Daegu, a story he has told in interviews and that is widely repeated by Korean media.

Min Yoon-gi was born on March 9, 1993. He debuted as a member of BTS in June 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment and became known as one of the group's main rappers and producers.

His first solo mixtape, Agust D, came out in 2016 and was re-released on download and streaming platforms in 2018, reaching number three on Billboard's World Albums chart. His second mixtape, D-2 (2020), peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard 200, number seven on the UK Albums Chart and number two on Australia's ARIA chart.

In 2023 he released his debut solo album, D-Day. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, tying him with bandmate Jimin as the highest-charting South Korean solo artists at that time.

Suga is a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association and has songwriting and production credits on more than 160 songs. They include Suran's "Wine," which reached number two on the Gaon Music Chart and won Best R&B at the 2017 Melon Music Awards.

So the real name behind both Suga and Agust D is Min Yoon-gi.
