Quick answer

Yeji's real name is Hwang Ye-ji (Korean: 황예지). Born May 26, 2000, she is a South Korean singer and dancer and the leader of the JYP girl group Itzy.

Real name and stage name

Yeji is a mononym taken from her own given name. Her full name is Hwang Ye-ji (황예지), and she performs without her family name, as many Korean idols do.

She was born on May 26, 2000. Yeji is the leader of Itzy, the girl group JYP Entertainment formed and debuted in 2019. Itzy quickly became one of the most successful fourth-generation girl groups, known for confident, high-energy choreography, and Yeji's dancing is often singled out by fans and Korean media.

In March 2025 she made her solo debut with the EP Air, adding a solo career to her group work. Like several other members of big K-pop groups, she has used solo releases to show a different side of her style while staying active with Itzy.

As leader, Yeji is also often the group's spokesperson in interviews and on variety shows. JYP's naming practice for Itzy, like Twice before it, mostly uses members' own given names, so there is no hidden alternative name behind "Yeji."

If you are looking up Yeji's real name, it is Hwang Ye-ji. Her bandmate Ryujin, whose full name is Shin Ryu-jin, follows the same pattern.
