Victor "Vic" Vance is the protagonist of Vice City Stories, the 2006 prequel set in 1984. He's also the older brother of Lance Vance. Dorian Missick voices him in Vice City Stories. In the original Vice City, where he appears only briefly, his voice is credited to Armando Riesco.

When Vice City Stories begins, Vic is a soldier at Fort Baxter Air Base. He joined the Army to support his family, including his sick brother Pete, but his commanding officer, Sergeant Jerry Martinez, pulls him into smuggling and drug deals. When those schemes fall apart, Vic is discharged and left without a job or money in Vice City.

From there, Vic gets pulled into the city's criminal world, with his brother Lance often leading the way. He builds a business empire of rackets across the city, fights the drug-dealing Mendez brothers and has run-ins with Ricardo Diaz. Unlike many GTA leads, Vic is shown as reluctant. He's a decent man who keeps being forced into crime to protect his family.

Vic's fate is known before Vice City Stories even starts. He's the man killed in the botched cocaine deal at the start of the original Vice City, the ambush that brings Tommy Vercetti and Lance together. That makes his prequel story a tragedy, because players already know how it ends.

Vic is fictional, but his story ties the two Vice City games together and gives Lance's anger in the original game more weight.
